Our Story

From Potential to Possibility

GHASSA was founded on a simple belief: every Ghanaian student in Spain deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Too often, young Ghanaians lacked access to the information, guidance, and support needed to pursue higher education and build fulfilling careers. GHASSA was created to change that.

Since 2023, we have worked to encourage academic excellence, prevent school dropouts, and empower students with the resources, opportunities, and community they need to succeed.

Today, GHASSA brings together students and professionals from across Spain through educational initiatives, career development programs, networking opportunities, cultural events, and community-building activities.

Because when young people are empowered to dream bigger, entire communities move forward.

Our Founder's Vision

GHASSA began with a simple observation: many young Ghanaians in Spain were unaware of what was possible for them.

Despite the challenges, there were Ghanaian students earning university degrees, professionals building successful careers, and individuals breaking barriers across different fields. Yet their stories were often invisible to the next generation.

GHASSA was created to bridge that gap to inspire through example, provide practical guidance, and show young people that success is not only possible, but achievable.

Our vision remains the same today: a community where every Ghanaian student feels empowered to pursue higher education, achieve their ambitions, and never walk their journey alone.

From a small group of friends to a growing national community here's how GHASSA was built.

2023 – Q1

The Idea is Born

A group of Ghanaian students led by Abigail Adu Asamoah in Spain identified the need for a structured community support system and began organizing.

2023 – Q2

GHASSA Founded

GHASSA is officially established with its first executive team in place, beginning to build the Ghanaian community network across Spain.

2023 – Q3

First Community Events

GHASSA hosts its first networking and orientation events, welcoming new Ghanaian students to Spain.

2023 – Q4

Resource Hub Launched

The GHASSA Kit de Becas and academic orientation resources are compiled and shared with the community.

2024

Officially Registered as a Non-Profit

GHASSA is officially registered as a non-profit association in Spain a major milestone marking the formalisation of our community. Membership reaches 150+.
